GE15: Sanusi fumes as voters demand petrol money to vote

PADANG SERAI: Kedah Perikatan Nasiona (PN) chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has allegedly described voters wanting money in return to vote as being stupid and an embarrassment.

In a campaign video posted on TikTok clip was posted by account holder @_bintmuhammad, he said some voters had resorted to sulking online when they didn't get the allowance for voting said a Free Malaysia Today report.

The video clip shows Sanusi making a campaign speech in support of PN candidate Datuk Azman Nasrudin in the Padang Serai parliamentary election to be held on Dec 7.

Sanusi who is the Pas election director also looked incensed over voters seeking payment.

In contrast, he said Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters were willing to travel home to vote, from as far as Australia and the Americas.

"They knew the importance in assuming control of this land," he is seen saying.

"Here you are asking for RM50. You are stupid," he said.

Sanusi who is the Kedah Menteri Besar said one whole family from Australia spent RM40,000 to return to vote for Pakatan Harapan and did not ask for a single sen in return.

"Your vote is important. Don't be calculative over RM50 to RM200 worth of petrol money. Those fighting us are coming back from Taiwan, China, Singapore, United States, Australia and voted for Pakatan Harapan. They didn't ask for a single sen," he is heard saying.

The Padang Serai parliamentary seat was previously held by PH's M. Karupaiya, 69 and was nominated again by the pact on Nov 5 to defend the seat.

However, he died on Nov 16, two days after being admitted to Kulim Hospital due to a heart attack while campaigning.
