Portfolios of new Pahang unity govt excos to be announced tomorrow

KUANTAN: The portfolios of the new Pahang executive council members, who were sworn in on Dec 2, will be unveiled at Wisma Sri Pahang tomorrow.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said he is in the final stages of scrutinising the portfolios to ensure that exco members would be able to carry out their responsibilities accordingly to serve the people.

"They (exco members) were picked (to lead the portfolio) based on their background and capability to shoulder the responsibilities. I am sure they will be able to execute their duties as required by their respective portfolios," he said after closing the 2022 Pahang Plantations and Commodities Festival and Symposium at Yayasan Pahang, here, today.

The 10-member state exco line-up in the first-ever unity state government, comprising Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Pahang, consists of eight assemblymen from Umno and one each from DAP and PKR.

The BN exco members who were retained are six-term Benta assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abdul Razak, Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad and Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff.

The new faces are former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's eldest son Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib, Datuk Seri Johari Harun, Datuk Sabariah Saidan, Razali Kassim and Fadzli Mohamad Kamal.

Meanwhile, the two PH members are Triang's three-term assemblyman Leong Yu Man from DAP and three-term Teruntum assemblyman Sim Chong Siang from PKR.

On Nov 28, Wan Rosdy was sworn in to lead a new pact between BN and PH and for the first time, he will head a state government comprising BN and PH after Pahang ended up with a hung state assembly following the 15th General Election.
