Hishammuddin: I am with Umno — then, now and forever [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno cannot afford to make any more wrong moves after the party and Barisan Nasional (BN) suffered an embarrassing loss in the 15th General Election (GE15).

BN treasurer Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein made it clear that Umno must realise and be remorseful over its embarrassing loss in the general election.

"In GE15, BN lost badly and garnered only 30 parliamentary seats only. By right, such a result should instil remorse and make us realise what has transpired, especially those of us who are in Umno and BN.

"We have to make improvements and changes for the better, whatever it takes for our beloved party.

"A lot of work has to be done to restore the people's trust and belief (in Umno and BN). We cannot afford to make wrong moves again," he said in a video recording that was shared on his social media platform last night.

Hishammuddin, who is Sembrong member of parliament, said he would spend time restoring the people's confidence in Umno.

"Seeing now that there is more time, not as busy and occupied as before, I will use this time we have wisely for the continuity and future of the party.

"There is one question that people always ask me, that is, what about my stand, and after this, where will I go, what will I do in politics.

"It is very simple, I am with Umno, then, now and forever."

A day after the GE15 results were announced, Hishammuddin had stated his stance of not cooperating with Pakatan Harapan in forming a new unity government.

In a statement uploaded on Facebook, he had stressed that the party needed to work together and cooperate with other parties that shared similar values, aspirations and goals.
