You are a burden to DAP, Puad tells Ramasamy

KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno supreme council member has called Dr P. Ramasamy to "look at the mirror" after labelling Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the party's "most tainted leader".

Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said the Penang Deputy Chief Minister II himself was a "burden" to DAP.

"Ramasamy accused Zahid of being a burden to Umno. Did he forget that he, himself is a burden to DAP? That's why DAP Putrajaya called for disciplinary action against him.

"He had questioned on why there was only one Indian minister under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's current cabinet line-up.

"He (Ramasamy) labelled (controversial Muslim preacher) Dr Zakir Naik as 'satan'. He also supports Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)," he said in a Facebook post today.

Yesterday, Ramasamy said that Zahid appeared to be the most tainted leader in Umno, saying that the biggest political party in the country could not be revitalised without the need to clean up its corruption-tainted image.

He also said that Umno had lost the majority support of Malay voters in 15th General Election due to several corruption charges against Zahid.

His remarks came after the recently concluded 2022 Umno General Assembly approved the motion for the posts of party president and deputy president to remain unchallenged in the upcoming party election.
