Kelantan to decide state assembly dissolution date after MB returns from umrah

KOTA BARU: The state election for Kelantan will be held simultaneously with the other two states led by Pas.

This was confirmed by Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who is also Pas vice president.

However, Mohd Amar said the date of dissolution of the state assembly would only be decided by Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

"Menteri Besar is now in Makkah performing the umrah. We will wait for his return before discussing the dissolution (of the state assembly).

"We have decided to hold the state election simultaneously with Kedah and Terengganu.

"But the decision whether the election of the three states will be held on the same date with the states led by Pakatan Harapan will only be known after next week's meeting," he said.

Mohd Amar who is Panchor assemblyman, told this to reporters after handing over mandarin oranges to the Chinese community here today.

Pas vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar yesterday said the party would meet with the leaders of Penang, Negri Sembilan and Selangor to discuss the date for the state election so that it could be held simultaneously.

He said unofficial discussions regarding the date of the state election with Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari and Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun were held late last year.

However, he said the decision on the date has not been made and further discussion would be held next week.
