All is well in Penang DAP- Chow

KEPALA BATAS: Going by what Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow says, all is well in Penang DAP.

Chow, who recently claimed that there were attempts to oust him, said all that was over after the recent state elections.

"I feel all this is over after the state elections.

"At that time (prior to the state elections), it can't be denied that there are considerations not to select me by the party decision makers," he told newsmen here today.

Soon after the state elections, political observers had noticed a rift between Chow and his predecessor Lim Guan Eng.

During an event here earlier this month, Chow told the audience that there were people within and outside the party who were planning to remove him.

As such, he had called on his detractors to respect DAP's decision.

Lim, who is DAP national chairman, had urged Chow to furnish proof of any plot to topple him.

Recently, DAP insiders had told the New Straits Times of a plot to oust Chow.

Last week, a former state executive councillor and DAP assemblyman had said that the party's grassroots wanted political tensions in the state to ease.

Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh said they had already sent a message to the leadership.

Asked to comment on Phee's statement, Chow said he is "always calm and cool".

Pressed further if he had met with Lim, Chow said "we always meet".

"We have weekly meetings," he added.

Chow was also asked about his fate in the forthcoming party elections, slated for next year.

"I will think about it when the time comes," he said.
