Hopping culture is not something to be proud of, says Labuan PH secretariat chairman

LABUAN: The "hopping" culture to get rewarded with a position is not something to be proud of, said Labuan Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretariat chairman Simsudin Sidek.

"The PH Labuan secretariat is of the opinion that a culture of leaping for position and rewards is not something to be proud of.

"The PH Labuan Secretariat is confident in the existing leadership's ability to fulfil their responsibilities competently and on the right foundation," he said in a statement.

According to Simsudin, Labuan Women's Affairs Association chief Fauziah Din had recently proposed for Labuan member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman to be appointed to a political position, following Suhaili's declaration of support for the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last month.

On Monday, Suhaili had said that the loophole in Anti-Party Hopping Law enabled him to switch his support and get the allocation from the government.

Suhaili was a two-term Labuan MP who switched to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Sabah (Bersatu) and won the last general election last year.

Apart from Labuan, Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) also pledged their support for the Madani government.
