Bersatu's Ahmad Fayhsal claims Labuan MP offered ministerial position

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth cheif Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed that Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, who pledged allegiance to the unity government, was offered a Cabinet position.

In a statement today, Ahmad Fayhsal, who is also Machang federal lawmaker, alleged that Suhaili was offered the post of Federal Territories minister, alongside parliamentary incentives as well as various types of perks.

"I also want to dispute Suhaili's statement, regarding the denial of the role of 'Dato' Botak,' who allegedly threatened, promised projects, and cash incentives to Members of Parliament from Perikatan Nasional.

"On the contrary, Bersatu MPs, in particular, were also persuaded to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whose incentive is parliamentary allocation.

"In fact, the Labuan MP has also claimed to be offered the position of Minister of the Federal Territories for supporting the PM," he said.

His statement came after Suhaili denied that he was being threatened or persuaded by representatives from the government for his decision to support the government, led by Anwar.

Further disputing Suhaili's claim that no one had approached Bersatu lawmakers, Ahmad Fayhsal said the evidence has been passed to the police for further investigation.

"Evidence such as pictures, videos, messages and emails sent by 'Dato' Botak' are in our possession and have been included in the police report and will be included in the MACC report," he added.

Responding to Anwar's former political aide Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador's denial of being the broker on behalf of the government, Ahmad Fayhsal said he did not make any slanderous statement but was merely reading out a police report made by Bersatu Youth wing's member.

"Farhash should not jump the gun without examining the facts. I have never defamed him. I merely read out a police report made by a member of the Armada Bersatu Malaysia on Nov 14.

"Let the police take action as the police report has stated all the necessary facts for the police investigation," he said.

Yesterday, Farhash denied any involvement in pursuing several opposition members to support the leadership of the prime minister, saying he has no acknowledgement of the allegations made against him by Wan Fayhsal.
