Bersatu dares DAP to take BN to court over 'Communism' allegations

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has challenged DAP to file a legal action against Barisan Nasional (BN) over the party's campaign material during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Bersatu Supreme Council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said today that BN allegedly published a book during GE15 that associates DAP members with the late Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader, Chin Peng.

Following this, Wan Saiful said a legal suit against BN should be filed should DAP wish to clear its name.

"BN had published the book titled 'Barisan Nasional's Communication Campaign', which was the official document received by its grassroots leaders in conjunction with the GE15 campaign (last year).

"On pages 129 and 130, under the section communism ideology, it stated that DAP is akin to communism and there is a family relationship between DAP and CPM as well as Chin Peng.

"This is also not an issue raised by Perikatan Nasional (PN) only, and I urge that DAP takes legal action against those who publish the book," he said during a press conference in Parliament today.

According to Wan Saiful, the book also mentioned that Chin Peng was the cousin of other DAP leaders, such as Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming, and former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

He added that the book also mentioned that Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook was Chin Peng's nephew, while Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was the cousin of Lim's wife and former Damansara MP Tony Puas was Lee's nephew.

Following this, Wan Saiful said DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng should not be selective in legal actions to clear the party's name.

"When will he (Lim) take action against BN if they genuinely want to clear their name? They should not be selective about the legal action they want to take and only file it against Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Mohamad.

"So, we will see if DAP is a party that is selective in taking legal action as we know that this government likes to have selective prosecution."

On Nov 10, Lim, the Bagan MP, initiated legal action against Siti Mastura in response to her allegations regarding the ties between several DAP leaders with Chin Peng and Lee.

On Nov 14, Siti Mastura was summoned to Bukit Aman to give her statement regarding the alleged defamatory remark against DAP.
