Resign if you can't work together, Loke tells Selangor DAP reps

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook called the party's Selangor representatives to resign if they cannot work together.

He is referring not just to delinquent state assemblymen (ADUNs) but also to municipal councillors and village chiefs.

"This is my final warning. If any assemblymen, municipal councillors, or village chiefs can not work together, just quit the job. If not, I shall expel them," he remarked at the 2023 Selangor DAP Convention.

Loke also urged Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo to be firm and address the issue assertively.

"If these issues cannot be resolved, how can we be the government?

"I am here to advise the Selangor leadership that we cannot tolerate on these matters. Such practice is a 'disease' in the government, the 'government syndrome'. We cannot let these problems taint our achievements.

"Regardless of the position held, one must have the spirit to collaborate and work cohesively within the party," he said.

Loke also cautioned against favouritism in distributing funds based on personal connections and preferences.

"Fund allocations must follow procedures, considering the needs of the people, and be distributed equally and fairly to any areas in need.

"If there are welfare issues, allocate the funds. The funds are not our own money; they are given by the government to representatives to aid the constituency and the people. Fund allocation shall not be subject to our personal preferences," he reminded.
