Don't be a hypocrite, Saifuddin tells PN over concerts

PUTRAJAYA: PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail clapped back at Perikatan Nasional (PN), saying that the opposition coalition was being hypocritical over its policies related to concerts.

In his winding-up speech at the PKR Annual National Congress, Saifuddin, who is also the Home Minister, had listed international celebrities that held concerts back when PN was still helming Putrajaya.

"During their administration, almost every week concerts were held. (They) had Boys Like Girls, Billie Eilish, BlackPink, and Super Juniors," he said as he received applause from over 2,500 delegates at Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) here today.

This came after the government had received backlash after allowing Grammy Award winner American band Coldplay to perform at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil earlier this week.

Apart from that, he emphasised that the people had always been the principal concern of the current unity government and that they had never been neglected.

He said this was evident in the government's initiatives to aid those in need, especially those undertaken by the Economic Ministry, which systematically provided targeted subsidies.

Previously, there were those who expressed opposition towards the Coldplay concert's organisation, contending that Malaysia ought to be cognisant of the sensitivity of the Palestinians who had been subjected to Zionist atrocities.
