'I, myself didn't know that I will be doing that (stepping down)' - Zahid

PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied rumours that he will be stepping down from his post due to health reasons.

"I, myself didn't know that I will be doing that (stepping down)," he told reporters at a press conference after the launching ceremony of the Polytechnic Transformation Programme 2023-2030, here.

Zahid, however, admitted that he underwent a prostate surgery procedure.

"Yes, I have undergone a prostate surgery procedure. All men have prostates, but don't speculate like this," he said.

He also added that he is currently in good health.

On Nov 19, Zahid's daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid said her father was in good health after undergoing a surgical procedure on Nov 16.

On Nov 23, the deputy prime minister in a Facebook post, said he was currently resting as advised by his doctor before returning to work.

Last Friday, Zahid returned to work, where he attended the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
