Zahid is delusional, says Wan Fayhsal

KUALA LUMPUR: A top Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader has told Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be prepared for the demise of Umno in the country's political scene.

Machang member of parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said this in his response to Zahid's statement, who yesterday ruled out any possibility for Umno to enter into a political cooperation with Pas via PN in the near future.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief, said the Umno president was being delusional.

"Prepare for the demise of Umno for betraying their own struggle and members.

"If Zahid continues with this kind of attitude, it proves that he has lost touch with the political realities of the Malays.

"He is delusional," Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said in reply via WhatsApp to the New Straits Times today.

Zahid, who is Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, yesterday told Pas to stop "dreaming" over the Islamist party's readiness to work together with Umno.

In a strongly worded response to Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's statement over the matter, Zahid was quoted as accusing the Islamist party of 'gila talak' (suffering from political separation sickness).

"It must be painful for them (Pas) since they are in the opposition pact, although they have significant number of (parliamentary) seats.

"As of now, Allah has yet to open our (Umno) heart to enter any form of political cooperation with them," Zahid had said on Wednesday.

Tuan Ibrahim had told an online portal today that his party was open to working with Umno again despite the 'bitter' history between both parties on the condition that it had to be made via PN.

Tuan Ibrahim had also said that the latest statement by Zahid in declaring its non-cooperation stance with Pas would not have any political impact on the party.
