Pas issues ultimatum to party reps: Support Anwar and you're out

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas representatives are warned that they will be dismissed if they provide support to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Pas spiritual leader, Datuk Hashim Jasin, reminded the party's representatives not to forget their allegiance or loyalty to Pas when aspiring to become representatives.

"Of course, they will be expelled from the party. They are not considered as representing Pas in parliament... but if they do (support Anwar), they will automatically be expelled.

"To honorable members, we have made vows and pledges in the name of Allah, so we are not only responsible to the president, to the central committee only. We are responsible to Allah. We will face Allah to be judged for the actions we take. Speak before Allah. It's severe because Allah knows our intentions when we do it," he said, as quoted by FMT.

This warning is in response to the statement made yesterday by Bukit Gantang member of parliament (MP), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, who claimed that seven or eight Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs from several states will lend their support to Anwar in the near future.

In a press conference this morning, however, Syed Abu Hussin did not specify whether the MPs in question were from Pas or Bersatu.

Meanwhile, Pas information chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, stated that Syed Abu Hussin's claim is intended to draw attention only to the government.

"He himself has no value. It's not worth making a declaration of support for Anwar in the parliament," he said.
