IPOH: Perak Unity Government Convention today should be a stage to recall events and important moments that brought Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) together.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this was crucial as today's government formed between BN and PH was not easily established.
"It stands on our sacrifices and commitment as party leaders and supporters, to set aside all differences and embrace all similarities for the survival of a country.
"Since Nov 21, 2022, the sacred date we established the government in Perak, we can see the existence of elements that try to divide the unity in the government.
"Racial and religious issues are deliberately fabricated. Past political history is rehashed to stir up feelings of division, not only among the people but also to raise suspicion among us in the unity government," he said.
Saarani, who is also Perak BN chairman, said this in his winding up speech at the convention here in Hotel Casuarina, Meru, today.
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
Saarani said all party leaders and grassroots must support and succeed in their efforts to establish a new political narrative.
"People out there, including party supporters, must be given the best possible understanding.
"Young people must be convinced that this political narrative that we are pioneering is the politic of the future that we must all nurture.
"This is our stage in the name of the unity government to affirm our determination and promise to the people to pour all our strengths and efforts as the founder of the government so that the dignity of the land of Perak Darul Ridzuan can be raised as a prosperous and successful state, while its people are overflowing with blessings of wellbeing," he added.
