Anwar confident more PN MPs will support the unity government [NSTTV]

IPOH: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today is confident that more opposition members of Parliament are expected to announce their support for the unity government under his leadership.

The Prime Minister, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said that there are 'reliable signs' are no longer confident with the false promises made by the top Perikatan Nasional (PN) leadership.

"The opposition MPs were promised that there would be changes in the government soon, but it has never happened so far.

"That is the strength of the opposition, giving their MPs hope, saying that there will be changes (in the federal government)

"Those who are in the Parliament (opposition MPs) who were convinced by such promises and when it did not happen, one by one would leave the party.

"I believe there are reliable signs that many more (opposition) MP members will have their confidence eroded by the false promises made by the PN," he said in his closing speech at the Perak Unity Government Convention at Casuarina Hotel in Meru here, today.

Anwar added that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah last night advised political leaders to accept the fact that unity must exist and be maintained in the country.

"Politicians should give their focus to guarantee stability, drive growth, maintain the country, save the people and plan changes for this period of five years.

"They play the racial sentiment card as if we are leaving the foundation of the nation's formation enshrined in the national constitution. But our people are easily influenced by this (racial card).

"We have a Malay majority, our main leader is Malay, the majority of people in Malaysia are Malay, even the majority of the poor people are Malay and a large part of what caused damage to the interests of the Malays is the naive Malay leaders," he said.
