PN lacks future leaders, says Umno Supreme Council member

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional's (PN) decision to retain Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as their prime minister's candidate in the event the opposition returns to power is proof that the coalition is irresponsible and lacking future leaders, an Umno Supreme Council member said.

Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi claimed that there were no significant achievements made by Muhyiddin when the Pagoh member of Parliament served as the country's prime minister under the previous PN-led federal administration.

"Everyone knows that is 'PM gagal' (failed as the prime minister) when the country was under his 17-month-long administration.

"There was no significant achievement made that we can be proud of.

"There have been a number of violations of good governance principles including the issue surrounding the Jana Wibawa case and the fact that his son-in-law is still 'missing' abroad," Puad wrote in a social posting on his Facebook account this morning.

In the same posting, Puad also took to task Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) partner in PN, Pas.

The Islamist party, said Puad, seemed unwilling to defend its vice-president and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as PN's prime minister candidate.

Puad claimed this is so, since Pas is still dependent on Bersatu for monetary resources.

"Pas still needs money from Bersatu since the latter has Jana Wibawa," he said.

PN on Thursday announced its "shadow cabinet" line-up, but stopped short of appointing a "shadow" prime minister.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, said the question of PN's pick for prime minister should not arise since Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was chairman of the pact.
