Hadi still unfit for work, says aide on Marang MP's absence from Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: Amidst questions raised over Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's absence in Parliament, his aide, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman has clarified that the Pas president is still not fit for work.

In a short text message to the media, Syahir said the Marang member of Parliament was still in recovery and had to go for several follow-up treatments in Terengganu.

"Hadi's health does not permit (him to attend Parliament), as he is still in recovery.

"A letter and medical certificate has been submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul yesterday, Feb 25," the message read.

It was previously reported that Hadi had been hospitalised at the National Heart Institute for a heart examination since Jan 1.

On Jan 7, Syahir said Hadi's condition had improved and he was awaiting to be discharged.

The NST today reported that Hadi did not attend the opening session of the Dewan Rakyat, graced by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

During the King's royal address, Hadi's seat at the front row of the opposition bench was seen to be empty.
