Opposition MP claims some colleagues have run out of allocations after few days

KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition member of parliament claimed that some colleagues from his party have fallen into the B40 income group due to the lack of government allocations.

Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (Pas-Kuala Krai) alleged that the opposition has never been given a single cent after a year and four months under the PH-BN government, despite being duly elected by the people.

"This has greatly inconvenienced us and our constituents. Some MPs have immediately fallen into the B40 group shortly after receiving allowances for a few days," he said during the debate on the king's speech in the Dewan Rakyat today.

This, he said, was because the money had been distributed to the people, especially at the start of the school season.

"It should be remembered that the world is like a wheel, no one will remain forever. No one can be 'tongkat langit'."

He said this statement served as a "reminder" for a country that loves and cares for each other, where efforts are aimed at resolving all the people's problems, rather than simply making promises that go unfulfilled.

"Any government should uplift the small without diminishing the big… strengthen the weak without weakening the strong. In the end, it is the people who benefit," he said.

He said equitable allocations should be guided by legal principles and promises; failure to provide them would constitute a breach of promises and disregard for rights and laws.
