Two former Bersatu leaders join PKR

KUALA LUMPUR: Two former leaders of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) have officially joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

In a Facebook post, former Bersatu Supreme Council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman revealed that both he and former Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah have been accepted as members of PKR.

"I am resolute in bolstering PKR's original struggle, advancing the people-centric objectives of the Selangor state government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Amirudin, and championing the national agenda of Malaysia Madani under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," the post read.

Dr Muhammad Faiz announced that he had quit Bersatu in August last year, relinquishing his position as a Supreme Council member.

In the letter, he explained that his decision was voluntary and was not influenced by anyone.

In GE15, Dr Muhammad Faiz contested under PN for the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat in a four-cornered clash with the MP, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (BN), Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (PH) and Tawfiq Ismail (Independent).

However, he lost the seat when he obtained only 8,822 votes.

Meanwhile, Adhif was formerly the Selangor Bersatu Youth chief and was elected Dengkil assemblyman in May 2018.

He was suspended from Bersatu in 2020 after he was arrested over a drug offence during a police raid at an entertainment outlet in Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
