Muda says it again: We're not joining PN roadshow

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has reiterated that it will not participate in Perikatan Nasional's upcoming roadshow.

In a statement, the party also said it remained committed to serving as a third bloc and focused on the plight of the people.

"Muda will continue to provide check-and-balance to the two blocs in Malaysia's politics," it said.

It said its central executive committee recently held a meeting with the party's sole member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on an action plan to tackle the costs of living, push for equal allocations for MPs and institutional reforms.

This includes the government's plans to amend the Federal Constitution on citizenship.

Syed Saddiq, who founded Muda, temporarily stepped down as president last year after he was convicted of corruption. He is appealing the sentence.

Previously, Muda secretary-general Amir Hadi denied the party was involved in the roadshow.

This came after PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Syed Saddiq would participate in the roadshow.

Muda today said announcements pertaining to the party and its leaders would only be made through its official channels.
