Have mercy on frontliners

LETTERS:It is regrettable for the public to read about Covid-19 being spread by someone who removed his pink wristband then went back to his kampung which caused the deadly virus to spread to the rest of his family and community.

There're also several videos showing Covid-19 patients being sent by ambulance to hospital and then showing the patients kissing and hugging their family members.

Other videos show many people sitting close together. No wonder the number of Covid-19 cases are not going down easily.

It is obvious that many people still do not seem to understand how Covid-19 is spread or simply have a 'tidak apa' attitude despite the risks to their health.

Perhaps, the government should start a new and intensive campaign to re-educate the public about the pandemic threat with the main message for them to have mercy on the frontliners.

It's been over a year and the frontliners have not had a rest. In that time, hospital facilities are struggling to cope with new cases. Most unfortunately, mobile cold room facilities had to be pressed into service to house victims of the virus.

As an 80-year-old retiree stuck at home for more than 15 months, I can only hope and pray for things to improve and get back to the previous normal.
