Extra RM2 for bus ticket a burden

LETTERS: I TRAVEL by bus from Kluang to Johor Baru. As a senior citizen, I pay RM9.80 instead of RM13 for a one-way trip to Larkin Sentral in Johor Baru.

I sometimes buy my return ticket in Kluang to make sure that I have a seat when I come back. This is especially important if there is a long weekend as there will be a rush for tickets.

However, I now have to pay an extra RM2 to change my ticket to a so-called boarding pass issued by Larkin Sentral. It is billed as RM1 for facility charge and another RM1 for handling fee.

This represents a 20 per cent increase on my original fare. There were no such fees before the pandemic. Why are there such fees now? The extra charge will burden travellers.

Incidentally, when I change my Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS)-Kluang bus ticket, which I had bought in Kluang, for a boarding pass at TBS, I do not have to pay anything extra.

I hope the authorities will investigate this extra charge as it is a burden on commuters, especially those from the B40 group.
