The Mews sets new benchmark

EASTERN and Oriental Bhd’s (E&O) latest skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, the Mews Serviced Residences, has become a favourite among foreign expatriates and holidaymakers who prefer staying in a prime business district.

The Mews in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng comprises 38-storey twin towers with 256 custom-designed luxury units. It has an estimated gross development value of RM469 million.

The apartments were launched at an average price of RM1,800 per square foot. So far, 75 per cent of the units, with built-up areas of between 922 sq ft and 2,619 sq ft, have been sold and the majority were bought by foreigners.

Malaysians have also bought units there to stay or as a long-term investment.

E&O managing director Kok Tuck Cheong said the joint-venture (JV) project with one of Japan’s largest property developer, Mitsui Fudosan Co Ltd, has set a new benchmark for high-end residences in the city centre.

In the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur, residents are promised a private haven away from the main urban thoroughfare via one- and two-bedroom serviced residences as well as penthouses.

The units provide ample-sized master bedrooms with elegant ensuite bathrooms synonymous with the E&O brand which balances superior form and efficient functionality.

Among the highlights of the Mews are its exclusive water sanctuary on the sixth floor and lookout point on the 37th floor deck, which offers spectacular 180-degree vistas of the city complete with open lawn and manicured garden.

“It has been an honour to have Mitsui Fudosan as our partner for this project where two different cultures have merged with a single aspiration of presenting an exceptional product to our customers,” said Kok at an event recently to commemorate the international alliance and celebrate the completion of the project.

E&O’s first tie-up with Mitsui Fudosan was a marketing collaboration in 2011, followed by the JV in 2013 to build the Mews.

The developer expects its third JV development with the Japanese firm in Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur to be launched by the end of next year.

Mitsui Fudosan has two commercial projects in the country, namely Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang and the ongoing Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kuala Lumpur at the Bukit Bintang City Centre development, which is scheduled to open by 2021.

Mitsui Fudosan (Asia) Malaysia Sdn Bhd managing director Takehito Fukui said the completion of the Mews demonstrates that the company and E&O share the same philosophy of developing high-quality luxury residences.
