Eco-tourism haven

IPOH, Malaysia’s third most populous city, has been focusing on the booming eco-tourism sector.

The state government is focusing on tourism and other sectors that do not cause pollution.

Hence, the development of Asia’s first animation theme park called Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS), which was built at the cost of RM520 million. It opened to the public last year.

It is owned by Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between PCB Development Sdn Bhd and RSG MAPS Sdn Bhd.

PCB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perak Corp Bhd, which is responsible for developing the Bandar Meru Raya City in Ipoh.

Another tourism destination is The Haven Resort Hotel, Ipoh, located next to a lake and 280 million-year-old limestone formation in Bukit Tambun.

The Haven was developed by Superboom Projects Sdn Bhd in 2015. The RM280 million development features three 26-storey condominium towers housing 489 units.

The units were sold at an average RM298 per sq ft, or from RM250,000 to RM1.4 million (958 sq ft to 2,840 sq ft) during the launch in January 2011, with an option to lease back to the developer.

Superboom is managing several units under the five-star hotel category.

TripAdvisor recently placed The Haven as one of the Top 10 Hotels for families in Malaysia this year.
