Inspirations from Oprah's new mansion

EVER thought of buying bungalow land and designing your own home with exquisite furnishing and finishings? Perhaps, also with a custom sauna, office, tea room, mini cinema, gymnasium, and an underground garage or a hut?

This may be expensive but if you can afford it, why not?

After all it is your home and you would likely spend years living in it with your family. You would also want to give a lasting impression to guests when they come for a visit.

Showbiz queen Oprah Winfrey recently splashed US$8 million (RM32.35 million) on a rustic island property which comes complete with a sauna, workshop and guest house overlooking her own beach.

That is over RM32 million when converted into ringgit, and for that kind of money you can surely buy three to four ready-to-move in bungalows in Kuala Lumpur or Penang.

But, you don’t have to fork out RM32 million to get a house like Oprah’s. You can do it at a fraction or less for an almost perfect dwelling as hers.

Oprah bought a spacious Sylvan property nested in the picturesque Orcas Island, between hot-spot cities of Seattle in the United States and Vancouver in Canada.

According to Daily Mail, the legendary media proprietor splashed US$8.28 million on the 17.4ha waterfront estate that was deemed “Madroneagle” by a preceding owner.

Stunning photographs captured from inside the rustic-yet-modern mansion made with natural wood walls and flooring showcase the 7,303-sq-ft, three-story main house complete with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a slew of luxurious amenities.

The first floor of the main house includes the living and dining rooms as well as the bedrooms. The looped stairway leads guests to the second floor where a game room, another living room and a bathroom are seen.

The bottom floor includes a lavish wine cellar and spacious workshop that offers gorgeous window views of the island.

Initially reported by the celebrity real estate and lifestyle blog, Velvet Ropes, the sprawling property furthermore comprises a custom sauna, workshop, tea room, craft room and a hut underground.

The property has a guest house (also referred to as the gallery house) which has the same number of bedroom and bathroom amenities in a more compact area.

So start evaluating your idea. Make a list of must have features to make your home almost like Oprah’s.
