Lin Dan smashes Chong Wei out of the BAC in Wuhan

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s interest at the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Wuhan, China, ended on Saturday when world No 1 Lee Chong Wei crashed out in the semi-finals.

Chong Wei, who won the tournament twice (2006 and 2016), once again played second fiddle to five-time world champion Lin Dan, who easily notched a 21-13, 21-15 win.

The defeat is Chong Wei's second to the China ace this month, after losing in the final of the Malaysia Open in Kuching.

The last time Chong Wei defeated Lin Dan was in the semi-finals of the Rio Olympic Games, last year.

Lin Dan, a four-time Asian champion (2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015) will take on compatriot and reigning Olympic champion, Chen Long, in the final on Sunday.

Chen Long had earlier seen off his younger teammate, Shi Yuqi, 21-19, 21-15, in the other semi-final tie.
