Chong Wei denied 7th Indonesia Open title

KUALA LUMPUR: National shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei will have to wait longer for his seventh Indonesia Open title, after crashing out in the second round on Thursday.

Chong Wei, 35, had his hopes dashed by India's H.S.Prannoy who notched a 21-10, 21-18 win.

National singles coach Hendrawan conceded the world No 3 Malaysian was slow off the blocks and never really got into the game.

"We must accept the fact that Prannoy was the better player today. He was really fast and was constantly on the attack.

"Chong Wei reacted too slow and found it difficult to get into the game.

"Prannoy had better control while Chong Wei lost out on pace," lamented Hendrawan when contacted.

Chong Wei, who only has one title (All England) so far this season, will compete at the Australian Open next week.

Hendrawan, believes the three-time Olympic silver medallist has still got enough firepower in him to come good at the World Championships (Glasgow) in August, despite the early setback.
