Chong Wei told to block out negative voices around him

KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Datuk Misbun Sidek believes that Lee Chong Wei needs to block out the negative voices around him if he is to keep performing at the highest level.

Misbun said the people around Chong Wei, who turns 35 on Oct 21, have affected his mind.

"Sometimes the friends and the people around him (Chong Wei) make him think too negatively. It will destroy his game," said Misbun, when met at the National Sports Day event organised by BAM today.

“He has to accept that he is getting older. If he can, I am confident he will be able to play at a high level."

BAM held a badminton clinic in conjunction with National Sports Day at the National Badminton Academy which saw 40 orphans from Rumah Kesayangan Petaling Jaya and Stepping Stone Living Centre Taman Seputeh.

They were given the chance to play with national players including Chong Wei, Tan Wee Kiong, Goh Liu Ying and Vivian Hoo.
