(Badminton) Women's singles coach Seu Bock honoured for achievements in badminton

KUALA LUMPUR: National women's singles head coach Tey Seu Bock was conferred the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) award on Saturday, which carries the title "Datuk", in conjunction with Malacca Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob's 79th birthday.

Seu Bock, who has been serving the BA of Malaysia since 2002, said it was a great honour for him to receive the award and has motivated him to keep developing future talents for Malaysia, especially among the women.

"This is one of the highest awards I have received in my career. I believe this shows the trust that people have in me in regards to developing the sport (badminton) here," said Seu Bock.

"Developing (women's) players capable of challenging the best in the world is not easy.

"I consider it a huge challenge but also one which I am determined to achieve. It will take time (to develop world class women's players) but it is possible."

Seu Bock played a major role in coaching Lee Chong Wei to three silver medals at the Olympics (2008, 2012, 2016) before he was appointed as women's singles head coach in July.
