Wei Feng and Daren clear first round

KUALA LUMPUR: Independent shuttlers Chong Wei Feng and Liew Daren enjoyed a good start to their campaign at the Macau Open when they won their respective men's singles first round matches on Tuesday.

Seventh seed Wei Feng faced no difficulty in seeing off Lee Hock Lai of the United States 21-12, 21-14 while Daren, the 11th seed, recorded a convincing 21-19, 21-11 win over Thailand's Mek Narongrit.

Wei Feng will play Indonesia's Panji Ahmad Maulana, while Daren faces Japan's Koki Watanabe in the second round on Wednesday.

It was, however, the end of the road for Cheam June Wei, who lost 21-13, 21-16 to South Korea's Lee Hyun Il.

Former BA of Malaysia (BAM) shuttler R.Satheishtharan also failed to impress going down 21-11, 21-14 to Taiwan’s Shih Kuei Chun
