Chong Wei bites the dust in China

KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Chong Wei’s poor form continued in the China Open when he was ousted in the men’s singles quarter-finals on Friday.

The 35-year-old lost 21-12, 15-21, 21-19 to World No 9 Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong, who is 12 years younger than the Malaysian, in 70 minutes.

The World No 7 Chong Wei was hoping to make an impression in the tournament following first round exits in the recent Denmark Open and French Open.

The Malaysian will now focus on the Hong Kong Open, which starts on Tuesday, which will be his final tournament of the season before he takes a short break.

Chong Wei has not won a title since his All England victory in March. He was the losing finallist in the Malaysia Open and Japan Open.
