KUALA LUMPUR: Women’s doubles Lee Meng Yean-Chow Mei Kuan moved closer towards their goal of a maiden Grand Prix Gold title after reaching the semi-finals of the Korea Masters in Gwangju today.
Meng Yean-Mei Kuan did well to defeat South Korea's Chae Yoo Jung-Kim Hye Rin 21-17, 21-8 in 29 minutes in the quarterfinals
Meng Yean said he and Mei Kuan hope to go all the way and end the year on a high.
"We played well today and were tactically spot on. This allowed us to win quite comfortably, especially in the second set," said Meng Yean.
"I hope we can continue to combine well in our remaining matches.
“We really want to win this tournament. This is the last tournament of the year for us and we have never won a GP Gold before.”
The pair, who won the Malaysia International Challenge last year, will play either South Korea's Kim So Yeong-Kong Hee Yong or China's Kiu Xuanxuan-Xia Yuting tomorrow for a spot in the final.
"We have never played either pair before, so we will be studying videos of their matches to get an idea of their strengths and weaknesses.”
