Chong Wei on track for third title in 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: Former World No 1 Lee Chong Wei exacted sweet revenge over South Korea's Son Wan Ho on Saturday to reach the final of the BWF World Super Series Finals in Dubai.

Chong Wei, who went down in three games to the Korean just a day earlier in the group stage, chalked up an impressive 21-17, 21-11 win to set up a date with reigning world champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.

The Dane - who last defeated Chong Wei at the Japan Open final in September - saw off China's Shi Yuqi 21-12, 21-8 in the other semi-final.

Chong Wei, 35, has won the title four times, with the last being in 2013, while Axelsen is the defending champion.

In the women's singles, India's P.V. Sindhu will play Japan's Akane Yamaguchi for the crown.

In the semi-finals, Sindhu defeated China's Chen Yufei 21-15, 21-18 while Yamaguchi had to slog hard before carving out a 17-21, 21-12, 21-19 win over Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon.
