Peng Soon-Liu Ying raring for action at German Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying are ready to get back to their best as they set their sights on the German Open, which started on Tuesday with the qualifying round in Muelheim.

Peng Soon-Liu Ying, who won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, will take on qualifiers Praveen Jordan-Melati Daeva Oktavianti of Indonesia in the first round on Wednesday.

The Malaysian pair have been in superb form since reuniting early this year. Their best result was winning the Thailand Masters in January.

The World No 21 hope to peak at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games next month.

"At the moment, we are in good shape and we want to do well here first (German Open)," said Peng Soon when contacted in Germany.

"Our combination on court has also improved, so we want to push and see how far we can go."

Despite being the national No 3, Peng Soon-Liu Ying were picked ahead of World No 9 Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing for the Commonwealth Games.

They also hope to make the squad for the Asian Games in Indonesia in August.

Malaysia’s Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie and Kian Meng-Pei Jing were involved in late first round matches on Tuesday.
