KUALA LUMPUR: Former national coach Jeremy Gan earned his first major success as Japan's trainer when he guided Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino to their country's first-ever mixed doubles title at the All England on Sunday.
Watanabe-Arisa bounced back from a first game blemish to upset fifth seeds Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of Japan 15-21, 22-20, 21-16 in the final in Birmingham.
Jeremy resigned from the BA of Malaysia (BAM) in September.
"Watanabe-Arisa worked so hard in training for this victory," said Jeremy.
" I must thank the Japan BA and their chief coach Park Joo Bong for giving me a chance to introduce my own programme for the mixed doubles pairs.
"Both players are still young and they have a good future ahead."
Meanwhile, World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan won her second All England women's singles crown when she defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 22-20, 21-13.
In the men's singles, Lin Dan of China failed to win his seventh title in the tournament following a 21-19, 16-21, 21-9 defeat to compatriot Shi Yuqi.
