Mei Kuan-Vivian defy odds with women's doubles gold medal

GOLD COAST: Scratch pair Chow Mei Kuan-Vivian Hoo won Malaysia's second gold in badminton at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday.

The Malaysians, who only played one tournament together prior to the Commonwealth Games, recorded an easy 21-12, 21- 12 win over England's third seeds Lauren Smith-Sarah Walker in the women's doubles final.

It is Vivian's second straight title after winning it with regular partner Woon Khe Wei at the 2014 Glasgow edition.

With the pair's win, Malaysia end their Commonwealth Games campaign with seven gold, five silver and 12 bronze.
