Dream big girls, says Rosman Razak

KUALA LUMPUR: National women's doubles head coach Rosman Razak wants his trainees to dream big.

Following the success of an all-Malaysian women's doubles final at the recent Celcom Axiata Malaysia International Challenge, Rosman now wants to see his pairs break into the world’s top 10.

"It is definitely a good start since I became the women's doubles head coach about a month and half ago, but we cannot stop here.

"The women's doubles department have always found it hard to break into the top 10, which shows we still have a long way to go.

"My instructions are simple, and I believe everyone understands it clearly. Our goal remains the same, and that is to be on par with some of the world's best," said Rosman, who is currently assisted by Wong Pei Tty and Lim Pek Siah.

On a separate note, Rosman confirmed that injured shuttler Woon Khe Wei will not be part of the Uber Cup team.

"Khe Wei is still not back from injury, therefore, she will not be making the trip to Bangkok next month.

"Thankfully, Lee Meng Yean has recovered from her injury and is looking very good. For now, our top three players are Vivian (Hoo), Chow Mei Kuan and Meng Yean.

"There are three more slots, and I must make a decision soon. For now, I am studying our opponents because we know who we will be facing. The three remaining players will be selected based on tactics and strategy, and not results alone," added Rosman.

Some of the players who could fit Rosman's plans are the Malaysia IC champions Soong Fie Cho-Tee Jing Yi or even junior shuttlers like Tan Sueh Jeou, Goh Yea Ching and Yap Cheng Wen.
