Accompanying Jin Wei to the last eight was Eoon Qi Xuan, who defeated Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani 21-19, 21-10. Qi Xuan was set to play Denmark's Line Christophersen in the quarter-finals.
In the boys' singles, both Ng Tze Yong and Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin continued their impressive run, when they booked their quarter-final spots in style.
Tze Yong sent second seed, Ikhasan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay packing in the fourth round with a 21-13, 21-5 win while independent shuttler, Aidil, notched a 21-19, 21-13 win over Japan's Riku Hatano.
