Hendrawan going back after Chong Wei's retirement?

KUALA LUMPUR: Following Lee Chong Wei’s retirement on Thursday, Malaysia could lose coach Hendrawan.

It is learnt that the 46-year-old men’s singles coach has been approached by the all Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) after Chong Wei’s announcement.

Three months ago, Hendrawan was reported to have turned down an offer from PBSI to be their women’s singles head coach due to his commitment with the Malaysian national squad.

“Earlier I had offers to go back to Indonesia but I didn’t do it because my mission with Chong Wei wasn’t complete yet,” he said.

“I made a promise to Chong Wei, and if he needs me, I will be of service until his career ends. After that I will decide on my future.

“Chong Wei has only just announced his retirement. So, I haven’t given it much thought.

“For now, I will continue to help Datuk Misbun (Sidek) as we need to prepare the men’s singles players for the Olympics next year.”
