LEE Chong Wei has challenged the national men’s singles shuttlers to beat his record in badminton.
The four-time All England champion received the Brandlaureate Book of World Records award in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday for his achievement of being World No 1 for a total of 378 weeks (six years and eight months) throughout his career.
The 37-year-old announced his retirement on June 13.
For the record, Chong Wei held the World No 1 spot for a total of 199 weeks consecutively, apart from winning 69 individual titles.
“Thank you Brandlaureate Book of World Records for acknowledging my achievement.
“I hope a national shuttler will break all my records one day,” said Chong Wei on Instagram.
