Only Kian Meng-Pei Jing left in French Open

TAN Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing are the only Malaysians left in the French Open.

The mixed doubles duo reached the quarter-finals following a 9-21, 21-18, 22-20 win over World No 19 Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari on Thursday for their first win in three meetings against the Indonesian pair.

The World No 14 Malaysians played World No 1 Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China in a late last-eight match yesterday.

Men’s doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik was shown the door, losing 21-19, 13-21, 23-21 to World No 2 Mohd Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia in the second round.

In the women’s doubles, World No 15 Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean were edged 21-16, 21-23, 23-21 by 37th-ranked Hsu Ya Ching-Hu Ling Fang of Taiwan while compatriots Vivian Hoo-Yap Cheng Wen were blown away 21-11, 21-12 by Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan of China.
