Seu Bock faces the exit, Misbun faces 'demotion'

Tey Seu Bock, the former coach of Lee Chong Wei, has apparently been told to leave the BA of Malaysia (BAM).

According to sources, Seu Bock’s fate was sealed even before the coaching and training committee (CNT) meeting on Friday.

CNT chairman Datuk Kenny Goh did mention after the meeting that BAM are looking for new candidates to replace Seu Bock but he refused to confirm if Seu Bock was sacked.

However, the decision to remove Seu Bock looks to be final and he may only be around until BAM get his replacement. Seu Bock was in charge of Chong Wei’s training before he became the national women’s singles coach.

The sources also confirmed that Rosman Razak, currently the women’s doubles chief coach, has also been told his services are no longer required.

Rosman, who has been a coach with BAM’s doubles department for more than 15 years, has not been considered for other roles, especially with the launch of the Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) this year where the national juniors have officially moved under one roof with the seniors from Bukit Jalil Sports School.

Rosman’s expected departure would leave Wong Pei Tty to handle the women’s doubles squad.

Even more shocking was the news that national men’s singles head coach Datuk Misbun Sidek will be demoted to the national junior squad as singles coach.

It is still unclear if Misbun would be made the new head coach of the junior team or handle only the singles players.

Coach Hendrawan is expected to be given a bigger role with Misbun’s anticipated move to the junior squad.

The timing of BAM’s drastic decisions would definitely raise eyebrows in the sports circle in view of the Tokyo Olympics and Thomas Cup Finals this year.
