Momota hospitalised for another night

PUTRAJAYA: Injured world badminton champion Kento Momota has been told to stay in hospital for another night.

Doctors have advised Momota, 26, who suffered a fractured nose and facial lacerations in a road accident on Monday, to remain at the Putrajaya Hospital.

Momota had earlier indicated he wished to be discharged from hospital today.

The doctors will continue to monitor his recovery, and Momota is expected to leave the hospital tomorrow.

Momota, who won the Malaysia Masters men’s singles title on Sunday, was in a van heading to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when it crashed into the back of a trailer.

The van driver, N. Bavan, died on the spot. Momota and three others, assistant coach Akifumi Morimoto, physiotherapist Yu Hirayama and BWF's Hawkeye technical officer William Thomas suffered light injuries.
