Aaron-Wooi Yik shock Olympic champs

KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik scored a huge upset as they stunned Tokyo Olympic gold medallists Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin of Taiwan to reach the men's doubles semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters on Friday.

The world No 7 were on fire as they smashed their way to a 21-13, 21-15 win over the world No 3 in Bali.

The Olympic bronze medallists, who are still seeking their first international title, take on Japan's Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi in the last four on Saturday.

World No 10 Hoki-Kobayashi edged Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 19-21, 21-14, 21-19.

It was extra good news for the Malaysian camp after independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi also checked into the last four.

The world No 14 got the better of world No 19 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani 21-13, 18-21, 21-13 in an all-Malaysian clash.

Yew Sin-Ee Yi meet world No 1 Marcus Fernaldi Gideon-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the semi-finals.
