Serdang BC smash their way into Purple League Finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Serdang Badminton Club (BC) advanced to the AEON Credit Purple League Junior (ACPLJ) Finals with a 15-4 win over Subang Jaya BC in the Under-18 competition in Cheras yesterday,

Ting Wen Xuan shone for Serdang BC by vanquishing Danish Iskandar 11-10, 11-6, 11-3 in the boys' singles.

Serdang BC's Wong Chin Hong-Wong Chuan Chui were equally impressive in the boys' doubles, making short work of Lee Jun Jie-Syamsul Hadi, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8 in 20 minutes.

In the mixed doubles, Serdang BC's Yap Juin An-Lim Qi Ling came from behind to beat Subang Jaya BC's Wong Zi Yi-Muhd Bilal 8-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-10, 11-8.

In the girls' singles, Tan Yan Yi delivered for Serdang BC by brushing aside Subang Jaya BC's Wong Zi Yi 11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 11-7.

Lim Qian Thong-Tan Po Yee sealed victory for Serdang BC when they outclassed Chang Yi - Intan Waheeda 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 in the girls' doubles.

Serdang BC owner Ong Hwe Hock was ecstatic with his team's progress to the finals.

He said their hard work had paid dividends. "We have been preparing for this tournament since last year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. I am glad our players have been consistent."

However, Subang Jaya BC still advanced as Group A runners-up due to their thrilling 11-8 win over Bangi City BC earlier.

Completing the top four teams for the finals on Feb 19-20 at the House of Champions, Gem in Mall in Cyberjaya are Group B winners Kajang United BC and runners-up Rawang BC.
