Jin Wei appeals against two-year suspension

KUALA LUMPUR: Former world junior champion Goh Jin Wei hopes the BA of Malaysia (BAM) will overturn their two-year suspension against her after filing an appeal today.

"I sent my appeal letter this morning. I'm ready to discuss this matter further with BAM, and I hope to get this decision revoked," she said.

Last Friday, BAM announced that they will not register both Jin Wei, 21, and Lee Zii Jia for international tournaments in the next two years for prematurely withdrawing from the national squad.

Jin Wei stunned the badminton fraternity in September last year by announcing her retirement from the sport.

The shuttler, who suffered from a stomach ailment and had to undergo surgery, had then cited medical reasons

But the Penangite made a U-turn recently and expressed her interest in returning to the sport as a professional.

There is hope for Jin Wei after Zii Jia managed to overturn the verdict following an appeal made on Monday.
