Soon Huat-Shevon fall in Hong Kong Open semis

KUALA LUMPUR: Independent mixed doubles duo Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai crashed out of the Hong Kong Open semi-finals on Saturday.

The world No. 12 bowed out in straight games 21-12, 21-12 to homesters Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet.

Chun Man-Ying Suet will play the winner of the match between China's Guo Xin Wa-Wei Ya Xin and Japan's Hiroki Midorikawa-Natsu Saito for the title on Sunday.

Two other Malaysian representatives; national men's singles Ng Tze Yong and women's singles Goh Jin Wei also fell short in their bid to reach the Super 500 final.

Malaysia's hope for a title now rest on the shoulders of world No. 10 women's doubles Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah.

The 2022 French Open champions defeated Thailand's Benyapa Aimsaard-Nuntakarn Aimsaard 21-13, 21-18 in the semi-finals and will take on Indonesia's Apriyani Rahayu-Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia in the final.
