HANGZHOU: Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia is through to the second round of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
In the men's singles first round on Monday, the 25-year-old independent shuttler clawed back from a game down to defeat Hong Kong's Angus Ng 15-21, 21-15, 21-16.The victory comes as a huge boost for the struggling Zii Jia, who has lost in four of his five previous meetings to Angus.
Zii Jia's next opponent is Timor Leste's Maurinho Gusmao de Jesus.Earlier, mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei also checked into the second round after downing Singapore's Andy Kwek-Crystal Wong 21-17, 21-13 at the Binjiang Gymnasium here.
The world No. 9 Malaysians will play the winner of the match between India's K.Sai Praneeth-Tanisha Crasto and Macau's Leong lok Chong-Weng Chi Ng.
