Asian Games: Zii Jia beats world champion

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia has reached the quarter-finals of the men's singles competition at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The 25-year-old stunned world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand 10-21, 21-19, 21-6 at the Binjiang Gymnasium today.

The win saw Zii Jia end a two-match losing streak to Kunlavut and register his fourth win overall in seven meetings.

Zii Jia will get his hands on his first Asiad medal if he beats H.S. Prannoy of India tomorrow.

Fifth seed Prannoy defeated Dmitriy Panarin of Kazakhstan 21-12, 21-13 in the last 16.
